Welcome to Vacancy Brewing, a South Austin taproom serving some of the cleanest, most easy drinking lagers in town. Tucked into the St. Elmo warehouse district, our taproom is like your favorite roadside motel: welcoming, unpretentious, and always ready for good times.
We pour crisp, easy-drinking lagers like our award-winning Vacancy Classic American Lager and June Hill Country Pilsner, along with seasonal and small batch brews for the more curious.
Whether you’re here for a pint, one of our local beer events, or just a break from the road, we’ve always got a seat waiting for you at the bar.
Meet Brent & Sara Watson, the husband and wife team behind Vacancy Brewing.
After leaving the Bay Area in 2018, they set off on a six month road trip - unsure of where they’d end up but certain of one thing: they wanted to start a brewery. As they crisscrossed the country, the blueprint of Vacancy began to take shape. The open road, coastlines, desert highways, and motels along Route 66 all played a part in inspiring the Vacancy brand.
Along the way, they dreamed up a brewery that would capture that same sense of adventure and planted their roots in Austin, TX.
After two years of planning and renovating during a pandemic,
Vacancy Brewing opened the taproom doors on April 2, 2021.
Today, you’ll find our South Austin taproom tucked into the St. Elmo warehouse district, surrounded by great neighbors, live music, and plenty of good food.
Our calendar is always packed with trivia nights, watch parties, special beer releases, and collaborations with other Texas craft breweries to keep things lively.
Out front, the Good Vibrations Pizza Co. trailer serves up wood fired pies, while a community of regulars (and soon-to-be friends) gathers over award-winning beers. Put it all together, and you’ve got yourself a spot you’ll want to come back to again and again.
Located in the warehouse district neighboring The Yard on St. Elmo Road, Vacancy Brewing is one of the newest additions to the Austin, TX beer scene and has become known for their crisp, easy-drinking lagers. Owners Brent and Sara Watson combine their expertise in the Beer and Hospitality world to curate a unique experience at Vacancy Brewing. With a nod to his years at Trumer Pils in Berkeley CA, Head Brewer Brent Watson has crafted a menu that is both approachable and rooted in traditional brewing techniques. In addition to the rotating lineup of seasonal beers in the South Austin taproom, you can find Vacancy favorites such as June (Hill Country Pilsner) and Vacancy Classic (American Lager) at bars and restaurants across Austin.
